The problem with hiring a contractor from 800 miles away

Most of our absentee clients have an architect on their primary coast and an interior designer flying in for site visits. We treat both as project partners. We send the same JobTread photo log to your architect that we send to you. Your interior designer gets the millwork dimensions before final payment. Your property manager gets a key handoff with full punch-list closeout.

Pay by ACH or wire — no on-site cash handling

No envelopes of cash. No cashier’s checks driven to the job site. Pay schedule is contract-based with milestone draws. ACH or wire. Clean.

Common questions from absentee owners

How often will I hear from you during the project?

Daily JobTread photo updates. Weekly written progress summary by email. Any time you call, the owner picks up. If a decision is required from you, you’ll know about it within 24 hours of the question coming up.

What happens if something goes wrong while I’m not on site?

You get a written change order with three options before we proceed. If it’s an urgent safety issue (a leak, a structural surprise), we stabilize the situation and call you within the hour, then write up the change order within 24 hours.

Can my architect or designer talk to you directly?

Yes. We treat your design team as project partners. We share JobTread access, send dimensions, walk through field changes. We don’t pretend we’re solo decision-makers.

What does the first call look like?

Thirty minutes, free, no pitch. You tell us the property, the scope, the timeline, the budget. We tell you what’s realistic. The call ends with a yes or no — yours, not ours.
